Rank in Bing first

ChatGPT will not cite you if Bing does not index you. Submit your sitemap to Bing Webmaster Tools, use IndexNow for instant recrawls, and monitor Bing positions.

Allow OAI-SearchBot in robots.txt

OpenAI uses a dedicated crawler for ChatGPT Search citations, separate from GPTBot (training). Allow OAI-SearchBot even if you block GPTBot.

Write scannable Q&A structure

ChatGPT prefers pages that answer the query in the first sentence, then expand. Long preambles get skipped in favor of pages that get to the point.

Add FAQ and HowTo schema

Structured data helps ChatGPT confidently extract facts. Pages with schema get cited noticeably more often in our testing.

Earn brand mentions on trusted sites

ChatGPT weights sources by real-world reputation. A citation in Wired, TechCrunch, or a respected industry blog carries more weight than 100 self-published pages.
